The 'Hagthorn I' earrings feature finely detailed Hawthorn twigs, with three delicate yet dangerous thorns hung upon hand formed earring hooks. The Hawthorn tree is both revered and feared. It's a tree with many ties to old superstitions and folklore relating to death and witchcraft, but also a tree known for it's protective ways. Thorn magic is often employed in protective spells, the thorn itself is protective in nature, warding off those who dare to get too close.
These earrings are 9.5cm in length, including earring hooks, and weigh just over 3 grams each. The hooks and thorns are made with sterling silver.
These earrings have been oxidised to bring out the textured surfaces. Sterling silver may further oxidise over time due to the skins natural oils.
