The Shillelagh studs feature intricately detailed blackthorns cast in sterling silver, and hung upon sterling silver cable chain and hand formed studs. The Blackthorn tree has long been feared and believed to be a tree that brings with it bad omens and curses, but also has a history of being used in protective charms, spells and amulets. In Ireland the Blackthorn is often used as a walking stick or a protective cudgel, called a 'Shillelagh'.
These studs are 7cm in length and are extremely lightweight, weighing in at only 2 grams each.
These studs have been oxidised to bring out the textured surfaces. Sterling silver may further oxidise over time due to the skins natural oils.
