'The Uncoiling' mini series is the second half of the Winter Solstice Collection. I wanted to create a collection of pieces representing the descent into darkness as we approach the Solstice, and a collection of work that represents the uncoiling that many of us feel with the slow return of sunlight. The serpent in this series represents renewal, the shedding of the old self, and the return of light.
The third amulet in this series, and the final piece in this six part collection features a hand carved snake coiled around a large skeleton key. After the serpents journey from the depths of the Underworld, after it's journey through the elements and the shedding of its skin, it rises once again, towards the light, reunited with spirit. Here it finds the key to new beginnings, here we move away from the darkness of the Solstice and journey towards the light and warmth again. The pendant is hung upon a 75cm sterling silver wheat chain.
This amulet has been oxidised to bring out the surface textures, sterling silver may further darken an oxidise over time due to the skins natural oils.
